In 1804 Merriwether Lewis and William Clark began their journey with the "Corps of Discovery", traveling from St. Louis, up the Missouri River to its headwaters and then across the Rocky Mountains and down the Snake and Columbia Rivers to the Pacific Ocean. What an incredible trip that was. Talk about adventure travel! |

Starting in the summer of 1999, Penelope, Nick and I began re-tracing much of the route of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and while the rivers have been dammed and the terrain has seen a lot of change, it is still inspiring to stand where Lewis and Clark did and try to imagine what it was like on that journey. |
